She Carries the Wild is a mixed media work on paper, in which various techniques come together to form an emotionally charged image. The background, built up with spray paint, forms an energetic and almost uncontrollable underlayer. Acrylic is then applied over this, and finally finished in oil paint, with details such as the zebra, flowers, and patterns forming a unified whole. The patterns from the background reappear in the animal and the surroundings as a symbol of connection between human, animal, and nature.
A subtle hint of gold catches the light, as a reminder of inner strength and radiance that is not always directly visible, but always present.
